It might seem redundant to remind ourselves that the people featured in video footage of news stories the black and white images capturing a precise moment in our shared past are actual human beings, not simply a visual complement. We forget this, though; the images today move too quickly. The impressions are too fleeting, and there a future seeking urgency to click or swipe to the next thing before we even have a chance to fully grasp what we seeing.

Urban Assets is continuing the public engagement process for the master plan and shelter design. The first stakeholder meeting was held January 10th, 2018, the first public input meeting was held on January 17th, 2018, and the first focus group meeting was held on January 31st. The second stakeholder meeting was held on February 28th, and the second public input meeting was held on February 10th, 2018.

Project budgets would be increased under this ordinance. The ordinance requires that an additional one percent be added to an eligible project’s budget (by GO funds) for expenditure on art development at the project. The ordinance would allow, with Common Council approval, the expenditure of such funds at a site other than the eligible project under certain limited criteria and it would allow for the deposit of some or all such funds into the Art Aggregated Fund (for new art projects) or the Art Maintenance and Conservation Fund (for conservation and maintenance of the City’s Art).
