On this issue I have heard from a number of residents, particularly in the Lake Edge and Glendale neighborhoods, that are against any proposal to sell off or redevelop the golf course and that are in favor of keeping the green space either as a golf course or as city parkland. I’m supportive of this position and will be skeptical of any proposals that include selling off of city parkland. I will provide updates here as the Task Force is established and as it begins to meet.

Further, a series of scenarios with different setups of sedimentrelated parameters were tested to explore the possibility of a 2D model to simulate morphological changes at a natural bend, and to investigate how much physical complexity is needed for reliable modeling. The results suggest that a 2D depthaveraged model can reconstruct the hydrodynamic and morphological features at a bend reasonably provided that the model addresses a secondary flow correction, and reasonably parameterize grainsizes within a channel in a pragmatic way. The factors, such as sediment transport formula and roughness height, have relatively less significance on the bed change pattern at a bend.

The X ray images revealed improper bonding between the pavement’s matrix and the pipe that was evidenced by the presence of air voids accumulation around the pipe perimeter, and could explain the significant discrepancy in the modelled temperatures.Furthermore, the validated model was used, for genuine temperature patterns, to simulate the relative influence of both the thermo physical properties of pavement materials and the pavement layer sequences on the performance of the PES and to determine the implications for pavement design. It was concluded that the enhancements could allow pipes tobe installed deeper within the pavement without having any negative effect on their thermal performances. Pipe installation deeper in the pavement is expected to reduce ‘reflective cracking’ under traffic loading as well as enabling future resurfacing of the pavement without damaging the pipe network..
