Baker to prioritize COVID 19 vaccination for school staff, passes resolution Updated 1:53 PM; Today 1:53 PMAMHERST The Town Council on Monday by a majority vote approved a resolution that requests Gov. Charlie Baker and the state department of public health to prioritize COVID 19 vaccinations for teachers and staff, as a means to increase in person learning.During discussion, councilors said the lack of in person learning at Amherst public schools was a major reason they supported the resolution, and is reflected in the two page document.It says in part: “a free and open K 12 public education system is integral to the functioning of our community.””The inability to safely open schools could compromise the long term educational outcomes for many students, especially our most vulnerable students; the mental and physical health of many students; the lives and livelihoods of many families in our community; and the local and state economy.

Mediation analysis was used to explore these relationship and to examine the potential buffering role of parental support and community identity in young people in the 7th to 9th year of compulsory education (N=199). Results indicate perceived discrimination contributed to negative outcomes in terms of school integration, perceptions of safety and levels of well being. All negative outcomes were buffered by parental support.
