This week I volunteered to be on a subcommittee of the Public Safety Review Committee that will be discussing/examining the police department’s budget through the lens of the protests and demands by many that we “defund the police”. In my opinion, this subcommittee of three white people is not representative of those who need a seat at the table, but we also do not have the expertise or time to make many specific recommendations about MPD’s budget. We can, however, provide a venue for the community to be heard and perhaps devise a method for evaluating ideas about changes to public safety funding levels.
Work was slow in the corporate group, and by nature, I always been an efficient worker (a friend from undergrad once commented that it seemed like I was having more fun in law school than I did in undergrad I was! Efficiency). So, the billable hour was not my friend.When we were all scrounging for more hours, there was one guy on my team who always seemed to be working. I couldn understand it.
I had on too many layers and not enough time to shed the jacket so i just tugged for dear life. Now im off the ground hanging from the chair as i gave it one last yank and the zipper broke, luckily i only fell 5 ft into powder. That experience was wild.

The initial website rollout favored people with digital literacy and resources at the expense of those who may need information translated or spread through word of mouth and those who may need help signing up. Anyone with delayed access or who was more slowly navigating this new, changing system was shut out.
