You can unsubscribe at any time.Thank you for subscribingWe have more newslettersShow meSee ourprivacy noticeA cat has been reunited with its owner five years after going missing in a Derby suburb.Black cat Musa disappeared from his home in Katrine Walk, Sinfin, back in 2016 when he left the house as usual, but never returned.Owner Denise Lucas was frantic that her pet hadn’t come home and went around to neighbours and called nearby vets to try to find him.But after weeks of not hearing anything about him, she assumed the worst had happened.Then five years later, the 48 year old was greeted by a knock at the door and RSPCA inspector Mick Darling broke the unexpected news that Musa had been found and was safe and well in his care.Musa had been spotted as a stray around 15 minutes away from his home, in Southcroft, Littleover, and a woman was concerned he had an injured paw, so she called the RSPCA.Mick managed to catch Musa and when he scanned him saw he was micro chipped and was able to identify Denise as his owner.Denise, who works at B in Ascot Drive, said: “The inspector said to me, ‘I have your cat in my van’ and I said, ‘no, she’s asleep on my bed’, thinking he was talking about my other cat, Sera.”Then when he said it was Musa I was gobsmacked. I just burst into tears as I really thought he was never coming home. I was delighted to see him and am so grateful to the RSPCA for bringing him back to me.”His paw was slightly injured, probably from a cat fight, but apart from that, he was well.
