Edit 2: I just got location data to reappear under Google Photos in settings by going to “Places” on the Search tab in Google Photos, clicking Explore Map, and then clicking the target current location button in the bottom right corner of the map. A pop up popped up with Google Photos asking to use my location once or while using app, but oddly “Always” wasn an option anymore. I clicked While Using App and then jumped over to iOS Settings > Google Maps and suddenly the location section was back! Changed it back to “Always.” Very strange behavior by Google Photos on this one.
